Vintage Cranks: Shameless Knockoffs Welcome

All the cool kids drop change for branding stamps on bike parts.  For example, Campy: it's pretty, it's spendy, and it's obvious.  Yawn.  I'm bored with the whole "buy your way into design by paying for the labels" thing in cycling and fashion.  I am obsessed with the concept of value in pursuit of aesthetic performance, I believe the pursuit of the aesthetic does not have to be superficial, and I believe that a vintage design philosophy can be achieved without forgoing paying the electric company.  I feel so strongly about this that I avoid brand names as much as possible, and buy off brands whenever possible unless I feel like performance or quality is truly being sacrificed.  Not that I don't have a perfectly functional crankset already, but vintage cranks are just so PRETTY.
Gimondi.

Cool kid Campy cranks.

FSA Gimondi.  While I like the cutouts in the spider vs. the IRD Defiant, there's something a little too rounded in the crank arms.

IRD Defiant.  I'm a fan.

Where have you been all my life.

Velo Orange Drillium.  Brilliant.  Now please make a single speed chainring.
